Random Reflections with Kim: Breaks Unlock Breakthroughs

Random Reflections with Kim: Breaks Unlock Breakthroughs

It’s been a while since I’ve shared some more personal thoughts. I've decided to start posting occasional notes about what's rattling around in my head as we build this business. Welcome to Random Reflections with Kim.

There’s a funny pattern I’ve noticed in my work.
After I’ve been grinding for hours, trying to force the answer out, my thinking eventually becomes as slow as molasses.

But the moment I step away, solutions start tapping me on the shoulder.

I used to think rest was something you earned after solving the problem.
Now I see it as one of the tools that actually solves the problem.

Rest isn’t a reward.
Rest is part of the process.

Some of my clearest insights have shown up when I wasn’t trying to think at all.
A walk.
A quiet drive.
Five minutes staring at my computer wondering why it hates me.
Or that weird moment right before falling asleep when your brain whispers the answer you spent three hours chasing earlier that day.

When I give myself permission to pause, the mental knots start to loosen.
Ideas realign.
Noise settles.
Next steps become obvious.

I’ve started to treat breaks like a component of my workflow instead of a disruption to it. Breaks reset the system.
They clear the fog.
They create space for the right idea to land instead of the forced one.

You can grind your way through a problem.
But you can’t grind your way into clarity.
Clarity shows up when you make room for it.

If you’ve been pushing hard and getting nowhere, try the opposite for a moment.
Step away.
Give your brain some distance.
You might find the breakthrough was already there.
It just needed quiet to speak up.

And if you want to bounce ideas, talk business, or just chat about whatever's going on in your life, reply to this email and let's chat. Sometimes a good conversation is its own kind of break.
